Frequently Asked Questions

We are here to help

You’re welcome to provide your own outfit! If you have a specific look in mind, please let us know and we’ll work it into your art concept.

We’re connected with studios that keep dresses and costumes for hire. In special cases we may personally create the outfit for your dream session. These pieces become a part of our available wardrobe for future shoots.

We will send you a preparation document with some useful tips. We’ll also help you to get comfortable in the water on the day of your shoot. Underwater modelling isn’t so straightforward, so give yourself time to get used to the water. We’ll be there to help you every step of the way!

That’s okay! While your ability to swim is important, we don’t need you to be underwater for longer than a few seconds, especially if you’re pregnant.

We typically shoot between 30 and 34 weeks, depending on how you carry and how comfortable you will be.

Your selected or customised package determines the number of final images you receive.

All final images are selected with the planned concept and art series in mind.

We take great care to produce a series of images that compliment one another as well as you, our valued client.

Please note that we don’t provide RAW images.

Yes! We LOVE maternity shoots! We take every precaution to make the experience easy and comfortable for our Mums-to-be. We shoot in a heated pool in winter or a warm pool in summer. Liesel’s team will ensure that breath holds are kept short. Come up for air any time you feel you need to. There is plenty of time and no one will rush you, so you can take your time. If you’re concerned, please feel free to ask questions during your consultation or talk to your physician.

Yes of course! Under each category you have the option to include an additional person.

The number of images will remain the same as stated on the price list, unless you order additional images.

Please keep in mind that adding more than one person may result in additional costs.

No problem, for an underwater shoot you don’t have to be a strong swimmer. You can always come up and hang onto the wall. However, you do need to have a good sense of familiarity and comfort in the water.

We don’t recommend an underwater shoot for persons who cannot swim at all. This applies to shallow and deep water.

Your safety is our priority. We take the following precautions to ensure you feel safe and sound:
• Being near the edge of the pool in the water
• Someone can be in the water with you at all times

Absolutely! After you’ve made your booking, you’ll be part of the conceptualisation process. This is typically a three-step process that includes the following:
• Consultation & Discussion
• Mood Board/Story Board & Inspiration
• Creative Consulting

Absolutely! A lot of our clients have preferred we shoot in their own pool, we are very happy to come to you. We may just pop over to take a quick test shot of the pool floor before we begin work on the creative concept.

Our maternity photography sessions are very casual and natural and can be held at any time of day. We recommend shooting when you’re 30-34 weeks pregnant and if you are unsure, have a chat with your physician or midwife.

Once a booking request is created, a deposit of 50% is required to confirm the booking. Payment is required within 48 hours, otherwise, the booking expires. We only take a few bookings a week so enquire early to avoid disappointment.

Full payment is required after the final images are chosen and just before the editing process.

We can work out a payment plan. The entire photography process can take up to three to four weeks depending on the timeline of booking. Final payment may be paid on collection.

Your chosen images will be lovingly and carefully edited. We spend a great deal of care editing each image – creating both full colour and black & white versions of each chosen image. The hours spent in post-production result in a series of striking images that will work well together as a series, or that can be printed or framed individually.

Within your package comes an edit of your photos from over a few hundred photos taken. We make sure the images look great by balancing the colours and tones, as colours and tones are often distorted underwater. Minor retouching is often applied such as hair out of place or objects in the water removed. However, if we shoot in your chosen pool and tiles need to be removed or major retouching applied, please enquire and we can give you an estimate of price.

Please enquire via EMAIL or CALL.

The collection gives you full control over the digital images with print rights. Images remain copyright to Liesel Edis Photography and may not be manipulated or used for commercial purposes.

Absolutely! We take pride in our work and reputation to ensure happy, repeat customers. However, if for any reason, you do not like your images, or have not had a happy experience, you will not have to pay for your images and/or will have your photo session fully refunded.

The heated pool is in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. The pool is indoors with showers and amenities. However, if you feel more comfortable in your pool, we are happy to travel to you.

The beauty of experiencing an underwater photography session is that once you feel warm and comfortable floating around the pool you almost forget that I have a camera. We will ensure you feel confident and comfortable all the way. The aim is to feel relaxed as possible and have some fun along the way.

Only a few seconds at a time. I will help you with some breathing techniques and there is never a rush, we work at your pace.

Yes absolutely, as a professional photographer I am fully insured. Also, I have completed my ‘water safety’ and ‘first aid certificate’.
